In 2002, The Children of Ireland Group initiated "Project Computers" when one of its member's company generously donated 21 personal computers, which was followed by an even more in 2003.  Baseball teams were being formed in 2004 and we were asked to assist in supplying much needed baseball equipment.

These computers were then shipped to Northern Ireland through the generosity of FedEx where they were distributed to 13 community centres in four counties, benefiting over 1,000 children and young adults. FedEx came through again in 2003 for more computers and equally in 2004 to ship enough baseball equipment for at least two teams.

See:  2002 Computer Donation Project for full details of this event.

See also: Summary of Community Centre Projects for a list of community centres that received the computers

Since this initial donation, The Children of Ireland Group has decided to continue these projects and asks that you consider donating a used computer which has at least a Windows 1998 Operating System and 2 gb of hard drive.  Any type of baseball equipment is needed including bats, balls, helmets, gloves, catcher's equipment, scoring books, pennants, uniforms, etc.

Donations of monitors are appreciated, as we now have electrical converters. Additionally, should network cards, cabling, routers, etc. be available, they will also be greatly appreciated since many centres are installing network systems.

Should you wish to make a donation, please contact Terry Ryan at: for shipping instructions.  Computers and baseball equipment, naturally, need to be packaged securely for overseas shipment.
