CURRENT PROJECTS OF THE CHILDREN OF IRELAND GROUP

Shamrock Scurry 5K Race/Walk - Annual Event:  Tallahassee, Florida
This very popular 5K race/walk is now put on by the Children of Ireland Group in Tallahassee, Florida, beginning in 2004.  It's purpose is to raise funds for not only the Children of Ireland, but also to assist other children related local organizations.  Our goal is to continue making  this one of the most popular springtime running events in the North Florida area.  Shamrock Scurry 5K Race/Walk Information

CELTIC FESTIVALS, MUSICAL EVENTS, CULTURAL EVENTS, ETC.
All of these events are likely places where you'll find volunteers of The Children of Ireland Group working at a booth/table with information on our organization.  A few dollars raised here and there are the ways to build up enough funds to help each community centre asking for our assistance.  Don't hesitate to do so in your town!  Let us know if we can be of any assistance in providing logos, wording for posters and handouts, etc.  Thanks for your help!

INTERNATIONAL OBSERVER
J. Terry Ryan, President is a regular international observer June 30 through July 14th each year in Northern Ireland to observe the the parades in Belfast, Portadown, and other towns around Northern Ireland.  Terry represents The Children of Ireland Group and reports on how the parades and any violence associated with them affect children and young adults.  Keep in touch with him via e-mail:  terry at childrenofireland.us

COMMUNITY CENTER AND TRAUMA CENTER ASSISTANCE
Since the organization's main focus is to provide recreation equipment and education resources for community centers working with needy children and young adults, an extensive effort is now underway to publicize our existence.  Not only will mail-outs be made with all-known community and trauma centers in Northern Ireland, but personal contact will be made by members of the organization as they visit Ireland.

Additionally, an application has been developed for community centers to apply for monetary assistance. Until available "on-line", please contact Terry Ryan ( terry at childrenofireland.us)  for additional information on applying for financial assistance to purchase recreation equipment and/or education resources.
